Anti-Age medicine
a preventive medicine
The issue of longevity of mankind finally knows a paradigm shift. For the medicine of yesterday, longer life expectancy was attained by the mass medicalization of the 3rd age. It was the classic response to the increasing number of degenerative diseases associated with aging. In medicine today, there are new technologies and new preventive and curative therapies and new products. Normal aging, inevitable, can indeed be slowed or accelerated depending on the mode of life of everyone.
The anti-aging medicine works on two levels:
- Internally: The anti-aging medicine will help, particularly, to ensure the control of free radicals, maintain your hormonal balance and to ensure an adequate intake of quality micronutrients. It will develop a program to maintain your healthy lifestyle: regular exercise, good nutrition, sleep, low sun exposure, elimination of stress and pollutants that can be found in the environment.
- Externally: It will develop an anti-aging program and will act as soon as possible on the outward signs of aging (wrinkles, dehydration, etc..), by using specific treatment care: peeling, mesolift, injections of botulism toxin (Botox ®)...
As the anti-aging medicine is preventive medicine, it is essential to establish a program of regular health assessment and to adopt as soon as possible a healthy lifestyle. It is in childhood, but especially from 40 years, that the anti-aging medicine will assess risk factors and discover the signs of premature aging and act to preserve the health.
- From an early age: Encourage regular exercise, control the risk of obesity through a balanced diet and avoid prolonged sun exposure without protection.
- Adolescence: It is difficult for adolescents to resist junk food and eat a balanced and adapted diet necessary for a growing body. Therefore, they must be well aware that bad eating increases the risk of obesity. They should avoid tobacco, alcohol, drugs, excessive exposure to the sun and participate in sports activity.
- 30-35 years: Already, the hormonal secretions begin to decline at this age. The consequences are felt gradually over weight, mood, skin quality. To counteract these potentially negative effects, a balanced diet should be maintain in variety and quality; the skin should be well moisturized by the use of anti-aging creams, issued on prescription; cell regeneration stimulate by peeling with fruit acids; practice a sport regularly, to fight against physical inactivity imposed by our current lifestyle (by practicing a sport, doing a daily walk, climbing stairs). It is also important to know your DHEA levels, then at its maximum, which will be use as a basis of comparison for the subsequent years.
- 40 years: overview. From 40 years very important checkups must be realize. They serve as a reference. Here is a brief list:
A complete biological assessment (cholesterol, triglycerides, sugar, iron ...). If the person has poor health habits, especially smoking, frequent alcohol and drug use, physical inactivity, obesity, and if he suffers from hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol and intense stress, he should pass an exam for cardiac effort to detect coronary risk; ultrasound examination of the liver, pancreas, kidney, prostate; and a radiographic examination of the lungs.
For women: you will have a mammography (every 2 years) and a cervical smear (every year).
- From 45: The reduction of hormone secretion is increasing with a consequent decline in vitality, metabolic disorders, skin loosening. It is important to monitor their cholesterol, triglycerides and sugar, realize a review of the nutritional status and intake of fatty acid, determine the oxidative stress level, look for a predisposition to heart disease, do a colonoscopy to screen for polyps (every 5 years and more often if a family history exist), clinical examinations and biological research of hormones deficiency (DHEA, sex hormones ...), for women, a mammography (every 2 years),a cervical smear (all years), and continuing aesthetic care for the aging skin which accelerates during the menopause.
- From 50 years: It's time to determine the biological age, a true indicator of the overall health of the individual. Intervention and early correction of disharmony may be well established. The following tests are recommended as well as some recommendations:
Establish a complete hormonal evaluation; measure neurotransmitters (serotonin, dopamine, norepinephrine) in cases of sleep disorders, mood or memory modification; establish complete biological assessments (fatty acid status, oxidative stress, inflammatory review, evaluation of bone turnover ...)
Depending on risk factors, screening for an early atherosclerosis by Doppler of carotid arteries, strengthen, if necessary, the body with antioxidants (vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin B2, curcuma, alpha lipoid acid, minerals ...) maintain an adequate diet to avoid deficiency of trace elements, reduce oxidative stress, check the intake of essential fatty acids for the maintenance, among other, of cognitive functions (memory, sight, hearing ...).
For men: do a prostate exam. For women: continue the regular breast exam (mammography every 2 years), ovaries and uterus (cervical smear). Doing so requires a bone densitometry. For the 2 sexes: early detection of colo-rectal cancer (G-FOBT every 2 years). Participate in a sport for muscle maintenance and the battle against osteoporosis.
Regarding the beauty treatments, reduce wrinkles by using the filling technique, if necessary erase brown spots and rosacea by laser or flash lamp, clear complexion by using peeling or mask with vitamin C, act on sagging skin by radio frequency and revitalize the skin by mesolift.
- After 60 years: Pay particular attention to the heart and reduce risk factors by assessing cholesterol, blood pressure, obesity, consumption of alcohol, tobacco, inactivity ...); further examinations of the colon, prostate, breast, uterus, ovaries and eyes; do a bone densitometry to monitor the development of osteoporosis and initiate treatment if necessary; visit an ophthalmologist to search for macular degeneration which is the 1st cause of blindness in persons over the age of 60; detect memory problems; continue cosmetic medicine care (mesolift, wrinkle fillers, peels, photorejuvenation by the flashlamp).
