A Preventive Anti-Aging Medicine

Anti-aging facelift

The facelift is an operation that can reposition the facial tissues after a skin collapse due to the effects of age, muscle tension, exposure to sunlight, bad life habit... Practiced in women as in men, the facelift is performed at the age of forty five years, in cases there are signs of aging.

The loss of elasticity of the skin, hormonal changes and the effect of gravity among other things, produce a collapse of the aging face. There is a loss of the oval of the face, a thickening of the neck, a loss of highlight cheekbones and a thickening of folds between the nose and cheeks. The forehead wrinkles and tail of the eyebrows falls. The skin becomes wrinkled and crumpling. The facelift can correct some or all of these transformations. We distinguish several types of facelift, involving various combinations of structures of the face and neck.

To get the best results, your surgeon will use different techniques, depending on the quality of your skin, the importance of the collapse, and the amount of skin and fat to be removed. Thus the lift can be partial or most importantly, a gesture may involve the muscles, fat, eyelids or forehead. The pre-operative examinations intended to highlight any contraindication.

The facelift operation is performed under local or general anaesthesia and lasts about two hours. The technique of lifting consists of resection of excess skin, but especially repositioning fat tissue and sagging muscle. The scars are discreet, hidden in the hair and ears. Various additional procedures may be involved such as peeling, lipostructure, filling of wrinkles, Botox injection... It requires a stay in a clinic or hospital for 12 to 48 hours.

The postoperative course is simple. You can get up on the first day and you may resume normal activity about two weeks after your surgery. The postoperative pain is moderate and variable, depending on the type of facelift. Swelling of the face is painless and insensitivity can happen, depending on the type of surgical procedure and individual susceptibility. The bruising, frequent in the neck, disappears in 2 to 3 weeks. The scars of the ears are pink the first few weeks, but quickly bleached to become extremely discreet. As with any surgery there are risks, which you discuss with your surgeon.
